This is Cave de Cairanne – a co-operative since 1929 and now pool together 122 winegrowers across 1200 hectares of vines including 170 hectares of prestigious “Cru Cairanne” which is 20% of all production in that area. The winemaker is Denis Crespo from the Bordeaux region and winemaker at Cave de Cairanne since 1995.
A traditional Cotes du Rhone blend of juicy Grenache (40%), dark fruited Carignan (30%) and spicy Syrah (30%) from southern Rhone vineyards with an average vine age of 15 years.
A Silver medal, 91/100 rated winner at the world’s largest and most influential wine show – the Decanter World Wine Awards in London. The judges said “Bright, ripe fruit, herb and spice nose. The palate has ripe cherry fruit, fine grained tannins and a vibrant, complex finish.”
As for winemaker Denis he calls it “An unpretentious wine, pleasant to drink, very fruity and crunchy!”.
