Buy a case, and buy it now! We are super stoked to have landed what we reckon is quite simply one of the best value Pinot Noirs you’ll find anywhere – in fact we’d go as far to say this is one of the Pinot bargain buys of the year. Yes, it’s that good!

This is 100% Central Otago Pinot, 100% Gibbston Valley fruit made by Sean Brennan of Brennan wines (provider of fruit to other big names in the area like Peregrine), one of the stars of the region and producer of a long list of award winning Pinots over the years, including the  “Best Business Class Red Wine” for their B2 Pinot Noir served on board Air NZ to the Business Class elite.

In 2018 the guys at Brennan ended up with a surplus of high quality fruit. After allocating barrels to their Brennan Pinot Noir ($60+) and B2 label ($30+) they found the fruit left over was of an amazingly high standard. Very confident the fruit would be good enough to go into either of those labels but content they had what they needed for the Brennan and B2 wines, they decided to branch out and release a new label – The Misfits!

As for the label design itself. Well, that was the work of a young girl sitting next to Sean on board an Air NZ flight from Christchurch to Queenstown. Doodling on her iPad, Sean made comment about his need for a new label, hey presto 15 minutes later this young lass had come up with the new Misfits label (apparently Mum & Dad have been well compensated for her work…possibly payment in Pinot!).

This is a phenomenal Pinot for the money. It’s everything we love about good quality Central Pinot – and not the juicy, easy drinking stuff you normally get in and around the $20 mark. This is a gorgeously silky, supply Pinot full of rich, dark berry fruit, spicy flavours. It’s got the obvious complexity to be cellared for a few years yet too.

Will one case be enough? Possibly not, so grab a second or a third and tuck it away. The winery is selling this wine directly for $25 per bottle and even at that price it’s a real bargain – for buying in bulk we’re able to deliver it for a snip over twenty bucks. Mark our words, this will blow away anything else it comes up against for the money!
