If you’re a lover of velvety smooth, sun-drenched Italian reds you’re going to be head over heels for this one. And it’s coming to you under the $20 radar too!

From Salento in the Puglia region of southern Italy (the bit that looks like the heel of Italy’s boot on a map!) this is true Italian Primitivo produced using an Ancient Roman winemaking technique involving partially dried grapes called appassimento.

The appassimento method helps produce wines of greater concentration – this is loaded with rich, ripe, luscious flavours of dark blackberry and cherry fruits, sweet licorice and spice! All presented in an embossed bottle that looks like you splashed out way more than this measly price tag!

Pair it with grilled meats, stews, aged cheeses or how about a Sunday roast lamb with wild thyme and roast potatoes! Buon appetito!
