When super talented winemaker Dave Clouston isn’t busting a gut crafted incredibly awesome wine (you might also know him from his Two Rivers of Marlborough wine labels) you might find him hanging out at his favourite pad – The Black Cottage! It’s where Dave kicks back and relaxes with friends and whanau. No doubt over a glass or two of Black Cottage Chardonnay!
This is a Chardonnay punching above its weight for the money. In fact the Black Cottage crew reckon this 2023 release could be one of the best to date!
A medium to full bodied style with rich stone fruit and citrus flavours with a lick of butterscotch and vanilla thanks to 12 months in French oak barrels – 30% being new oak which is rare for Chardonnays hitting this extremely modest price tag!
While you’ll enjoy busting Black Cottage Chardonnay out of the fridge on pretty much any occasion (do you really need an excuse?) this is the style of Chardonnay that’s really versatile with food – but our picks would be with white meats like chicken, fish and pork in creamy sauces.
