Produced by Angove in the McLaren Vale, South Australia. They were formed by a Doctor (Dr William Angove) who moved to Australia from Cornwall in the UK in the 1880s. He believed that good wine was essential for fine health and a sound mind. So there you go, doctor’s orders!

This is what they call their ‘Family Crest’ range so there’s a bit of family pride is on the line whenever they bottle something under this label. Judging by the impressive line up of reviews and awards they’re bang on the money here…

    91/100 (James Halliday’s Wine Companion)
“Old vines, the wine matured in French oak…a bargain.”

Gold medal (New World Wine Awards 2018)
Gold medal (China Wine & Spirit Awards 2019)
Gold medal (Mundus Vini Wine Awards 2019)

Using fruit from a couple of their McLaren Vale vineyards (Blewitt Springs to the north, Sellicks Hill to the south) and aged 12 months in oak.

This is quality McLaren Vale Cabernet at a banging hot price. Deep and dark in colour and loaded to the gunnels with deliciously ripe blackcurrant flavours with cedar, spice and a subtle smokiness.

Really, this is a wine you’d be happy shelling out $25+ with the gongs to back up its quality. Drink some now and over the next 5-6 years.
