Cooper used to produce an annual ‘Wine Buyer’s Guide’ – think of it like the annual bible that wine lovers religiously flock to for guidance of good slurping for the year ahead. And this legendary Hawke’s Bay label was a regular among his “25 Not-to-be-missed New Zealand Wines” list of great wines and great value wines that consistently deliver the goods, year in year out.

Church Road chief winemaker Chris Scott and his team simply have a gift when it comes to Chardonnay – especially when their cheaper labels are picking up such massive praise like that!

Scott calls it “Unashamedly just a little bit old school” while the Coopers went on to call it “citrusy, peachy, slightly buttery…showing very good depth and complexity.”

For the best food match we reckon pair this style with white meats and seafood, especially with light, creamy sauces.
