Ross and Barbara Lawson first planted their family vineyard in 1982, launching the Lawson’s Dry Hills label ten years later. These days Lawsons are part of a bigger (and very prestigious) family – The Family of Twelve.
Twelve of NZ’s most iconic, successful wineries that share information, ideas and even the odd secret or two. The top brass of NZ wineries sit round this table – Villa Maria, Kumeu River, Millton, Craggy Range, Ata Rangi, Palliser Estate, Neudorf, Nautilus, Fromm, Pegasus Bay, Felton Road and Lawsons.
Lawsons certainly have plenty to share around that family table with massive success over the past 25 years. In their own words and not wanting to brag (but rightly bragging just a little bit) “We have lost count of all our gold medals – the certificates cover the walls in our cellar door while the shelves are buckling with the weight of all our trophies.”.
This is the 2025 Lawsons Dry Hills Pinot Gris that took out an impressive Gold medal at the NZ International Wine Show 2026 and scored 4 1/2 Stars in Cuisine magazine’s annual Pinot Gris tasting. It also made the cut as one of the overall Top 10 NZ Pinot Gris!
The crew at Lawson’s say “Indulge in the luxurious Lawson’s Dry Hills Pinot Gris – a wine that’s sure to tantalise your taste buds. With a perfect blend of pear, stone fruit, and attractive floral aromas, this wine is a symphony of flavours.”
We say this really is just a gorgeous glass of Pinot Gris and right up our alley in terms of style – a luscious, mouth filling style full to the brim with pear, peach and stone fruit but still dry in style. That makes it the perfect partner to spicy Asian cuisine and white meats like pork and chicken.
