A cancelled export order on this gorgeous Gewurztraminer made by Rossendale wines – the guys behind the massively popular Southern Lines and Riley’s Lookout wine labels.
The Cottesbrook label is a wine produced exclusively for the US market but a cancelled shipment (and a sign of the tough global economy right now) means this producer has had to reluctantly flog it at a heavily discounted rate on the domestic market.
Currently selling on average with US retailers for NZD$25 per bottle (average retail price on Wine-Searcher.com). For $13.99 this is frankly absurd value for a quality Gewurz. This is a bargain!
Named Cottesbrook after what was originally one of the largest ranches in New Zealand. Using fruit from their family owned vineyard in Canterbury, the wine is SWNZ accredited (Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand) and made by a legendary winemaker whose name we need to keep under wraps. This is a guy with 30+ years winemaking experience and having worked in Burgundy, Champagne, Alsace, the Rheingau, Hunter Valley and Tasmania and boasts a long list of awards including winemaker of the “International White Wine of the Year” at the prestigious International Wine Challenge in London!
A luscious, aromatic and spicy style white – after all the word “Gewürz” means spiced in German! You’ll get all those typical flavours of rose petal, lychee, Turkish delight and sweet spice. Lip smackingly delicious and THE perfect wine to pair with spicy Asian food!
