One hundred and sixty years and five generations of family wine making – you don’t get to call yourself Australia’s oldest family owned winery unless you’re doing something seriously right. We’re talking about Yalumba, a member of the Australia’s First Families of Wine, the 12 founding family owned wineries across the ditch.

This is their famous “Y Series” range. And as we often say about this range, Y the hell wouldn’t ya. Year after year these wines offer incredible bang for your buck and the new addition to the range is this Cuvee sparkling.

As they say at Yalumba – “There’s a Y for every why” – and their latest Y is their take on the much loved Italian style sparkling Prosecco. A light, elegant sparkling true to the Prosecco style.

Reviewing for WinePilot.com critic Ken Gargett said “A wildly popular style, local Prosecco, and deservedly so. This is a bubbles designed for simple drinking but one which is full
of enjoyment. Just 11% alcohol, meaning that second glass is beckoning, it is made from South Australian fruit. It is a very pale lemon in colour and we have notes of spices, lemon and florals, with a deliciously soft palate and a lingering finish. A fine example of Aussie Prosecco for drinking now.”

Meanwhile QWineReviews.com said “A brand new wine in the Y Series, this Prosecco NV is a simple delight sure to procure a legion of fans. Light on its feet, it’s an agile thing as it waltzes about. Green apples, lemon myrtle, lemon juice, white field flowers and a fine pastry feel all muse. There is no doubting its crowd-pleasing vibe and this is a good go-to if catering for a large group on a budget. Tick.

This is an absolute no brainer if you’re looking for a more budget friendly alternative to Italian Prosecco.
