Cruise north of Christchurch for half an hour or so and you’ll hit the Waipara Valley wine making region. The Waipara Hills vineyard boasts some pretty stunning views of the mountains, hills and valleys it neighbours.
They’ve got a café on site serving food and platters and if you hit ’em during the summer months you might catch one of their mean summer gigs. Oh, and the wines are pretty bloody good value too!
Rosé is being guzzled in record numbers right now and there’s no wonder with gems like this for the money. Produced using Pinot Noir grapes from the Waipara region this is all strawberries and cream with a crisp and refreshing finish – it is so, so moreish!
Bust out a cold bottle from the fridge and pair it with a fresh summer salad with slices of blood orange, pinenuts and feta. If that sounds too much effort, just slap on some sunnies and kick back on the deck!
