Made by Saint Clair in Marlborough and part of their iconic Pioneer Block series – a range of small parcel wines from specific vineyard sites dotted across Marlborough. This is the Pioneer Block 28 Camp Block Pinot Blanc named after the vineyard that was used as a camp for the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the Second World War.
If you’re new to Pinot Blanc (“Pee-no blonk”) this is an awesome place to start, a cracking New Zealand example by a top NZ producer…and very well priced! What’s Pinot Blanc you ask? Well it’s is actually a white mutation of Pinot Noir. And the thing to know is that’s it full of peachy, pear and citrusy, lemon zest flavours, it’s got a touch of spice, it’s super refreshing…and it’s bone dry!
A dry, crisp style white like this pairs wonderfully with delicate seafood, creamy poultry dishes, soft cheeses, and light vegetable quiches. Drink now to 5 years from vintage.
