After years of dreaming about it and talking about (no doubt over a glass of wine) in 2009 Stephen and Jeany Cronk decided to actually do it. They sold their house in south London, packed in the corporate life and relocated the family to Provence to launch Maison Mirabeau.
They spoke very little French, had almost no experience in the wine game and couldn’t afford a vineyard. So far so good! But the story of Mirabeau is about never giving up on your dreams. And today they’re a stunning success – one of the best-selling Provence rosé brands in the UK, available in over 50 countries around the world with a reputation based on great quality, beautiful packaging and value for money.
They even finally saved up for that vineyard! Domaine Mirabeau is a 20 hectare estate which includes 14 hectares of AOP Côtes de Provence vines. ““It’s a lovely wine estate just inland from Saint-Tropez. There’s 20 hectares of land and it’s a beautiful place” says Stephen.
This is Mirabeau X Rosé using fruit from the iconic Aix-en-Provence sub region of Provence.
This 2024 vintage won a stunning Gold medal, 95/100 score AND a Value Gold Award at the world’s largest and most influential wine competitions – the 2025 Decanter World Wine Awards in London.
Winning Gold and 95/100 at the Decanter World Wine Awards in London is a pretty bloody big deal – from over 19,000 wines entered a mere 4% of wines won Gold. This was one of them and joined just 62 other Aussie wines to win Gold – and it’s fair to say not many of those are wines at the $20 price point!
The Value Gold Award is given to Gold medal wines that scored 95/100 and retail under the £15 mark (approx NZD$35) – there were just 109 Top Value winners and this made the cut!
The judges said “An explosion of crunchy red fruit and sherbet aromatics which blissfully unfurl onto the precise, well-defined palate and simmer towards the pithy, grapefruit finish.”
