After years of dreaming about it and talking about (no doubt over a glass of wine) in 2009 Stephen and Jeany Cronk decided to actually do it. They sold their house in south London, packed in the corporate life and relocated the family to Provence to launch Maison Mirabeau.

They spoke very little French, had almost no experience in the wine game and couldn’t afford a vineyard. So far so good! But the story of Mirabeau is about never giving up on your dreams. And today they’re a stunning success – one of the best-selling Provence rosé brands in the UK, available in over 50 countries around the world with a reputation based on great quality, beautiful packaging and value for money.

They even finally saved up for that vineyard! Domaine Mirabeau is a 20 hectare estate which includes 14 hectares of AOP Côtes de Provence vines. ““It’s a lovely wine estate just inland from Saint-Tropez. There’s 20 hectares of land and it’s a beautiful place” says Stephen.

This is Mirabeau Pure Provence Rosé using fruit from the iconic Cotes de Provence sub region of Provence. It’s the crown jewel of their Rosé line-up packaged in a stunning bottle and using a higher proportion of Grenache in the blend (58%).

They describe it as “A pale rosé with peachy reflections….a silky texture is complemented by a mouth-watering mineral note, perfectly reflecting its provenance.” and it didn’t miss the attention of top UK wine scribblers either…

“I really like this pink – it’s elegant and herbaceous.” (Victoria Moore, Daily Telegraph)

“Beautifully packaged this has a slight smoky, spicy framing to it that’s really attractive. Delicate, nicely focused and seamless, with tangerine, fine herbs, a twist of black plum and some cranberry brightness on the finish. Lovely wine. “ (Jaime Goode, Wine Anorak)

“Invest in a magnum of my favourite rosé, Mirabeau, light and fragrant with the hills and grasses of Provence.” (William Sitwell, Waitrose Food)

As for the food match, we reckon follow the recommendation of the Mirabeau crew – “A seafood superstar, this elegant rosé is perfect for dishes like grilled John Dory or fresh sashimi. It also pairs nicely with fine red meats or vegetarian dishes such as marinated tofu and chopped vegetable salad.”
