Trophy & Gold winning Cabernet made by the crew at Longview in the cool climate wine region of the Adelaide Hills in South Australia. From a cracking 2022 vintage (rated 9/10 by James Halliday’s Wine Companion) this took out the Trophy for Champion Cabernet or Blends at the Adelaide Hills Wine Show 2023.
Named after a legendary hairpin corner on the old road to Adelaide Hills. But when it comes to producing top quality wine the devil’s in the detail as they say. Using Cabernet fruit from the oldest vines on a single vineyard on a near perfect 45 degree slope facing north. Why’s this important? Well it allows the fruit to soak up all that sun during the day and then face cool sea breezes in the evening which helps a consistent, extended period of ripening for the fruit. Told you the devil’s in the detail.
It also scored 92/100 with The Real Review’s Huon Hooke who said “Good depth and hue of colour with a bright mulberry cabernet nose, very varietal and charming. The wine is medium-bodied and has a very agreeable backbone of fine but drying tannins, the finish clean and refreshing. A well turned-out cabernet.”
Drink now to 2035 and if you’re pairing it with food the Longview crew highly recommend it with a Beef Bourguignon!
