d’Arenberg The Footbolt Shiraz Magnum (1.5 Litre)

Get a gallop on and secure yourself this extremely limited, extremely cool, library release, 2017 vintage McLaren Vale Shiraz from one of the legends of the region – d’Arenberg. All for under $40? Saddle up!

Founder Joseph Osborn was a keen racehorse owner and Footbolt was his pride and joy. And clearly helped put a coin or two in his back pocket given the fact he sold his horses to buy the d’Arenberg property in 1912.

From a top 2017 McLaren Vale vintage the fruit was basket pressed and aged for 12-18 months in seasoned French oak. A winner of three Gold medals in competitions in London, China and closer to home in the McLaren Vale.

It also scored 90/100 and a Top Value Award with The Real Review’s Huon Hooke who said “Deep, dark colour and a powerful aroma of rich berry fruits, spicy shiraz characters and some subtle herbal, possibly bunchy overtones. A charmingly fragrant, vibrant shiraz, elegant and disarmingly fruity, detailed and already very approachable. This is one of the better Footbolts I’ve tasted.”

Packaged under cork close, available in a gift box and still got plenty of cellaring potential ahead  – this is hot to trot!
