Poggio Anima Gabriel Pecorino

Don't be a sheep. Try something different.

Poggio Anima Gabriel Pecorino

2024, Abruzzo Italy
  • Pecorino (pronounced peh-koh-REE-no) from d'Abruzzo on Italy's eastern coastline
  • Named after the ancient tradition of herding sheep - Pecora is the Italian word for sheep (and sheep are attracted to the fruit!)
  • You can almost taste the freshness of the Adriatic Sea! It's like the crisp, dry, refreshing style of Pinot Grigio crossed with the citrus, herbs and minerality of Sauvignon Blanc
  • Serve chilled on its own or pair with fresh fish, seafood, pastas and salads or soft cheeses

Branch out, try something new and exciting, don’t be a sheep – or Pecora as they say in Italy! This is the Pecorino grape (pronounced peh-koh-REE-no) from d’Abruzzo in Italy and although a very old grape it was recently rediscovered and now has a bit of a following in the wine world.

Pecorino is named after the ancient tradition of herding sheep (Pecora is the Italian word for sheep), the Pecorino grape is one of the first to ripen there on the coastal vineyards just a mile from the Adriatic Sea and funnily enough sheep are attracted to the fruit.

And it’s not hard to see why those fluffy cute guys enjoy nibbling on some Pecorino – this is a variety full of freshness! A medium bodied, typically unoaked style white, it’s got the crisp, refreshing nature of a dry style Pinot Grigio and the citrus, herbs and minerality of a Sauvignon Blanc.

Serve chilled on its own or pair with fresh fish, seafood, pastas and salads or soft cheeses.
