A cancelled export order of mind blowing proportions! Hands down this would be one of the greatest Central Otago Pinot Noir deals we’ve ever sold.

The Southern Lines label is a premium wine produced exclusively for the US market but a colossal cancelled shipment (and a sign of the tough global economy right now) means this producer has had to flog it hard, flog it fast and turn it into cash here on the domestic market.

This wine is priced to sell in the US market in the region of NZD$30-40. For $16.99 this is frankly absurd for the quality you’re getting and an absolute gem of an opportunity for Pinot Noir lovers. Trust us, one case will not be enough!

Using fruit from both the Pisa and Alexandra sub regions of Central Otago and made by talented winemaker Anthony Worch. He’s a Frenchman now settled in Otago, formerly at Peregrine and the winemaker behind the award winning wines like Tarras The Canyon.

A savoury, supple, rich and complex Pinot with dark cherry and berry fruit flavours, silky smooth tannins and a touch of spice. A gorgeous glass from first sip to last – all priced like your midweek quaffer.

Scoring 5 Stars and 93/100 with local critic Sam Kim who said “Sweetly ripe and elegantly complex, the wine shows dark cherry, dried herb, toasted almond and fragrant spice aromas on the nose. The palate displays excellent weight and soothing texture, wonderfully supported by fine, polished tannins. Generous and harmonious with delectable savoury nuances. At its best: now to 2027.”

Pinot of this quality will comfortable cellar for another 3-4 years yet. Like we said, one case will not be enough!

Please note: As this wine doesn’t usually sell in the NZ domestic market the RRP is an indication of the shelf price in the US market as set by the producer.
