A legend of the Hawke’s Bay wine scene. Trinity Hill were one of the pioneers in the Gimblett Gravels region back in 1993 seeing real potential for world class wine, especially Chardonnay, Syrah and Bordeaux blends.
This one lines up in their fancy pants black label range and it’s simply called “The Gimblett”. A true, first class Bordeaux red blend of Cabernet Franc (80%) and Tempranillo (20%).
Every vintage is seriously good and it’s no surprise to see this 2022 vintage included in the “2022 Gimblett Gravels Annual Selection Top 12 Reds” as selected by Master of Wine Andrew Caillard. That heavy hitting list includes the likes of Church Road TOM Syrah, Craggy Range Le Sol and premium reds by Villa Maria, Stonecroft and more.
Drinking incredibly well now but cellar this until 20239…if you can resist that long.
