Ruffino was formed in 1877 by cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino in Pontassieve, near Florence in the famous Tuscany region of Italy. The two Ruffino cuzzies fast gained a reputation for excellence and eventually became official wine supplier to the Italian Royal Court – flash!
Fast forward some 150 years and the Ruffino name still has a rep for producing quality classic Tuscan wines like Chianti, Chianti Classico and Super Tuscans.
They’re also producers of Prosecco and Pinot Grigio from the Veneto region. “Live your life in the sparkle” is their motto when it comes to Ruffino Prosecco.
This is their Ruffino Prosecco Rose – their loved house style Ruffino Prosecco with a Rosé twist. In their own words its “A unique blend of Glera (90%) and Pinot Noir (10%), the perfect grape for sparkling winemaking as it lends elegance, finesse and unique aromas. Entirely crafted at Ruffino’s two estates in Veneto, Ca’ del Duca and La Duchessa.”
There’s no wonder Italian Prosecco has exploded in popularity over the years – it’s light, juicy, refreshing with a touch of fresh summer strawberry fruit flavours, it makes an awesome alternative to the more expensive French Rosé Champagne.
