100% New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, 0% Alcohol. Giesen 0% Sauvignon Blanc is the world’s first zero alcohol New Zealand SauvyB. And this international headline making is getting rave reviews.
NZ Master of Wine Bob Campbell called it “A giant leap forward in 0% alcohol Sauvignon Blanc”. He went on to say “The Giesen 0% Sauvignon Blanc tasted like a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with pronounced passionfruit and red capsicum flavours. It’s slightly sweet but dry with a pleasing sweet/sour tension.”
It’s the work of a multi million dollar R&D investment, fruit from Marlborough and Waipara, and some good old whizz bang technology. It’s produced using what’s known as spinning cone technology with extracts the
aroma and alcohol from the wine.
Once the alcohol is removed the aroma is re-added to the body of the wine. Then the hard yards of vigorous taste-testing to make sure the wine has the mouth-feel and flavour you’d expect in a classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
Giesen 0% Sauvignon Blanc also has 80% less calories than a standard bottle of SauvyB. It contains no more than 0.5% alcohol, which is the level provided by NZ law for non-alcoholic beverages. That’s roughly the same as levels that naturally occur in fruit juice.
