Having taken to the world with their groundbreaking 0% range of SauvyB, Rose, Merlot, Pinot Gris and Riesling the guys and girls at Giesen have launched the latest in the zero alcohol offering – Giesen 0% Rose Spritz!
It’s the work of a multi million dollar R&D investment, New Zealand wine and some good old whizz bang technology. It’s produced using what’s known as spinning cone technology with extracts the aroma and alcohol from the wine.
For this one they’ve used Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Syrah grapes. Once the alcohol is removed the aroma is re-added to the body of the wine before a light spritz is added at bottling. Then the hard yards of vigorous taste-testing to make sure the wine has the mouth-feel and flavour you’d expect in a classic spritz style sparkling wine – light and juicy citrus and berry fruit flavours with a touch of fizz.
It contains no more than 0.5% alcohol, which is the level provided by NZ law for non-alcoholic beverages. That’s roughly the same as levels that naturally occur in fruit juice. It’s also just 17 calories per 100ml serve making it one of the lowest calorie sparkling wines out there!
