I Spy with my little eye...
Spy Valley Chardonnay
The winery neighbours the Waihopai spy bases (they look like massive over sized, misplaced golf balls)
4 1/2 stars (Michael Cooper), 4 1/2 stars (Winestate magazine), 4 Stars (Cuisine magazine)
Hand picked, barrel fermented, oak aged...plenty of value for under $20!
You may know Spy Valley wines from the over sized, misplaced golf balls neighbouring the winery. But they are in fact a satellite communications monitoring station (spy base!) right there in the Wairau Valley, Marlborough.
Spy’s Chardonnay has consistently picked up the gongs over the years and the 2014 is heading down the same road. In fact both Michael Cooper (NZ Master of Wine) and Winestate Magazine have already scored it 4 1/2 stars, Coops said "hand-picked, barrel-fermented and oak-aged for nearly a year…well worth cellaring, it is bargain-priced".
Plenty of value then for under $20!
Match with chicken meals or those pasta dishes with creamy sauces.
