    Mills Reef’s flagship range – Elspeth (named after the winemaker’s Grandmother, Elspeth Preston) sits right up there with Hawke’s Bay’s wine elite. If it’s Elspeth slapped on the label you know you’ve got one classy little number in your hot little hands!

    Hand picked fruit from 18 year old vines from one of their prized Gimblett Gravel vineyards and only released under the Elspeth label when the Mills Reef crew feel the quality is top notch – and 2016 was just that!

    As well as a Gold medal in China this impressive ’16 release took out No.3 spot in Cuisine magazine’s annual NZ Bordeaux red tasting. They loved its “rich spices…dark-red berry fruits and a ripe palate”.

    Aged for 17 months in premium French and American oak this is a dark, brooding Cabernet that’s totally reeking of class. It’ll comfortably cellar for several years (try up to 2025) yet but can you really resist opening it up straight away? Better grab a few bottles in that case!
