Hand picked fruit from one of their prized Gimblett Gravel vineyards and only released under the Elspeth label when the Mills Reef crew feel the quality is top notch – and 2020 was just that, another belter in the Hawke’s Bay area.
Aged for a whopping 26 months in premium French oak (35% expensive new oak) this is a dark, brooding Cabernet that’s totally reeking of class. It’ll comfortably cellar for several years (try up to 2035) yet but can you really resist opening it up straight away? Better grab a few bottles in that case!
