Yee-haw! The Eagle has landed! From the Golden State (that’s California, USA) this is McManis Family Vineyards Zinfandel and if you love your Zin for a little over twenty bucks this is well worth a shot.
They didn’t just slap “Family Vineyards” on the label for no reason – the McManis’ are fifth generation family farmers, wine and grape growers since 1990. Their label might look a bit old world but their set up is pretty flash. They’ve got a state of the art operation cranking up there in northern California.
Zinfandel (or Zin for short) is a little bit of a speciality in this neck of the woods and for the money this is a great value option. Darkly coloured, medium to full bodied and plush red with loads of savoury, succulent cherry and berry fruit flavours.
McManis Family Vineyards Zinfandel is certified green (the equivalent of our CarboNZero rating) and the ideal red to bust out with all sorts of meat dishes like spicy BBQ pork, lamb, veal, turkey and bacon.
