What a belter! Trophy & Double Gold medal winning Clare Valley Shiraz. A big, rich, Aussie red jam packed with plush dark fruits and a silky texture. All for a measly fifteen bucks, all hail the Kingston!
We’ve emptied a few good Aussie reds over the past while but for $15 this guy is right up there. It looks the part and it definitely tastes the part of a wine well worth the full price tag of $20. It ain’t hard to see why the judges at the NZ International Wine Show (NZ’s largest wine competition with over 2,000 entries) gave it a Gold medal and Trophy for Commercial Red Wine (generally wines selling for under $20 and commercially available). It also won Gold in Berlin at one of Europe’s biggest wine shows too.
Using fruit from the Clare Valley in South Australia and aged in American and French oak, this 2017 release is drinking so, so well right now – we can only imagine how bloody amazing this wine is going to look in another year or two! If you do like to lay a few bottles down in the cellar now and again this will comfortably last until 2022 and beyond. It’s your BBQ red for summer now, it can be your perfect winter red next year too!
We could waffle on all day about how good this wine is for the money, the fact is for fifteen bucks this is a class act and worth every penny and then some. One of the best $15 and under Aussie Shiraz you’ll slurp this year. It’s an absolute no-risk case in the cart – go for gold!
