In the 70’s was a pioneer in farming Greenshell mussels. In the 80’s he turned to deer farming. Today Peter Yealands and his wife Val head the highly successful (and ever growing!) Yealands Estate wine range in Marlborough.
He is simply nuts about sustainability and because of this it’s echoed in absolutely everything they do at Yealands. From allowing sheep to graze between the rows of vines, to using recycled glass and packaging in production. Heck, they even have NZ’s largest solar panels on the roof of Yealands HQ in Marlborough!
Yealands Estate Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is exactly what it sounds like – from a single vineyard! That vineyard is their Seaview Vineyard which sits right on the coastline down there in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. That means these poor vines have to fight the elements to produce small berries with thick skins loaded with amazingly aromatic, intense flavours.
Those battle hardened little berries help the Yealands crew to produce this classy style Sauvignon – loads of weight, texture and a punch of aromatic, tropical fruit flavours!
