The St Andrews vineyard in Clare Valley goes back 125 years when two Scottish immigrants purchased the 323 acre farming property and turn it into vineyards and orchards, naming it after the patron saint of their homeland. In 1995 Taylors Estate bought the historic site and four years later they’d produced their first wines from this awesome site.
The highest quality fruit, aged 18 months in oak, this is one of the Clare Valley’s most iconic Shiraz labels and not one for the faint hearted. It’s a big, full bodied, powerful style with big tannins and sweet-fruit – like we say, a whopper!
Scoring 91/100 with The Real Review’s Huon Hooke who said “Deep, bright and youthful purple-red colour, the bouquet is super-spicy with star anise and zar-atar nuances, powerful oak driving it all along… It demands more time, and will probably always remain an oaky style.”.
A special wine that will comfortably cellar into 2038 and beyond!
