Penfolds Bin 704 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Napa Valley Cabernet through a Penfolds lens. The Bin 704 is a mirror version of Penfolds’ world famous Bin 407 – which is a baby brother Cabernet to the legendary 707! Confused much?!

First released in 2018 this is the second vintage of this Californian Cabernet that has the sheer touch of class you’d come to expect from a Penfolds release…

Perhaps it’s the modestly elevated pH that mediates the impact and heightens the juicy fruit profile. It’s ready, willing and able.”

“Very deep and bright red-purple; the bouquet is impressive in its presence, fruits in the darker spectrum with side-notes of cedar and tobacco, a plummy touch that could even be merlot (although it’s pure cabernet). It’s very much a Penfolds red and a very serious one at that. A keeper. Slight mid-palate dip. Good grainy tannins in harmony: a solid and quite statuesque red. Quite long in the finish. Excellent.”

Bin 704 is good to go now but really you ought to be tucking a few bottles away in the cellar, up until around 2040.
