Once, twice, three time’s a charm! 2015 was the third amazing vintage in a row in the Hawke’s Bay region following on from the epic ’13 and ’14 vintages.
That is some seriously good news for the 2015 release of Te Mata Estate’s Coleraine, widely thought of as NZ’s finest red wine. Although Te Mata were stoked to see a third outstanding harvest in a row, crops were smaller than usual which did help to produce a wine of high concentration, lively acid and dark colour.
While the smaller crop did produce powerful concentration and finesse, it also put a squeeze on global allocations (and price) for this massively sought after wine, which Decanter magazine declared this year as “New Zealand’s First Growth”, a phrase in reference to the top wines of Bordeaux based on reputation and price.
This is the 35th release of this world famous wine and if you’re a Coleraine collector it’s quite simply a must have! If Coleraine is yet to sit in your cellar – what a way to start!
Named after the town in Northern Ireland where Te Mata Estate owner John Buck’s grandfather was born and first produced in 1982. This famous Bordeaux style red is presented in individually wrapped in Coleraine branded, vintage dated tissue and packaged in Coleraine branded wooden boxes. It’ll sit comfortably sit in your cellar for 10-15 years.
