Spade Oak Voysey Chardonnay. V for Voysey. Steve Voysey. Once upon a time he was making letters of another kind – like “O” (Ormond Chardonnay) and “P” (Patutahi Gewurz) in his days crafting iconic wine for one of the big boys back in the day, Montana wines.

These day Voysey’s main focus is on his own label, Spade Oak, and quite clearly loving every minute of it. “There is a world of difference between waving goodbye to your fruit as it’s driven away in a truck and seeing things all the way through to a bottle of wine with your name on it.”

Steve makes the kind of wine that he likes to drink and his Voysey Chardonnay has gained a massive following with Chardonnay guzzlers over the years – and for a wine under the $20 radar it’s not hard to see why! Using fruit from the Ormond, Patutahi and Saints vineyards – all iconic areas for making the Chardonnay Voysey loves to make (and drink).

This is Steve’s latest 2023 release using fruit from his Saints, Ormond and Patutahi Gisborne vineyards, and this is what he had to say. “Smooth and creamy in the mouth with good, balanced liveliness and enegry that flows seamlessly to a dry oaky finish.
