- It got a bad rep from being abused as a cheap wine filler in the 80s, but Chenin Blanc is an extraordinary grape!
- Only 100 cases produced under this label
- Made by Sam Smail (cheif wine maker at Whitehaven)
If you drank wine in the 80s chances are you've had, or know about, Chenin Blanc. Dispell any bad myths you have right now about this grape! It got a bad rep after being used as a filler in cheap wine by a lot of producers.
It may have been a victim of wine making abuse but this grape can produce extraordinary flavour and a variety of styles from medium sweet to gum numbingly dry!
Sam Smail at Sea Level (he's the chief winemaker at Whitehaven) produced only 100 cases of this full bodied but softly textured white - and we love it!
A great food wine with good cellaring potential if you want to lay it down for a few years yet to let it develop. Suited to a host of dishes - but stick with sushi, seafood and white meat dishes.
