Here’s a wine that goes for Gold in plenty of ways.

Gold because Mt.Difficulty, one of Central Otago’s big name producers, are the official wine behind the NZ Olympic Team gunning for shiny Gold medals at the next Olympics.

Gold because one of the vineyards used in their “Growers Series” is the Golden Hills vineyard (in the southern part of the Lowburn Valley) – all part of sites that were originally gold mining sites for early Otago settlers.

And Gold because it wins plenty of golds and gongs and very flattering write ups year in, year out. In the case of their 2015 release of Growers Series Chardonnay we’re talking 5 Stars (the equivalent of a Gold) from Wine Orbit’s Sam Kim, who said called it “Engaging Chardonnay…excellent fruit intensity backed by bright acidity…stylish and very attractive. At its best now to 2020.”

It has the touch of class you’d expect from a kingpin Otago producer like Mt.D. Go for Gold.
