Kuru Kuru – named and designed in honour of the owner’s great-great-great Maori grandmother, who was married to a Scottish Sea Captain and a member of the Ngai Tahu iwi. That hard working vegetable farmer from Stewart Island would be stoked to have a wine this classy named after her!
This is a label produced by Tarras Vineyards. You might not have heard of these guys before (they were initially an export only label) but don’t worry everything coming out under this label is proving to A-grade stuff.
It’s crafted by one the region’s top winemakers, Anthony Wurch. He’s a Frenchman now settled in Otago and the man behind many award winning wines including The Canyon (also made by Tarras Vineyards) and previously spent a bit of time with the crew at Peregrine.
Produced from their Bendigo vineyard and aged in French oak (a third being expensive new oak!) this is a full flavoured, luscious, silky style Central Pinot worth the coin. This is the kind of quality Central Pinot you could lay down in the cellar for many years from vintage.
Damn, you're looking young for your age!
