“Other countries seem to lose their nerve with this grape, producing sensible, well-brought up wines that you’d be perfectly happy to take home to meet your mother…Only Alsace has what it takes.” – Oz Clarke, wine writer.

“Alsace Grand Cru” on the label tells you this is world class Alsacian Gewurz in top gear. “Grand Cru” declared wines are of the very highest standard. They must be hand harvested and grown in strictly defined vineyard areas.

Between the villages of Voegtlinshoffen and Hattstatt you’ll find Grand Cru du Hatschbourg, one of only 50 areas allowed to declare their wines of Grand Cru quality. The earliest evidence of wine being grown in Hatschbourg dates back to 1188! Blimey!

“Gewurz” literally means “spice” in German and it makes the perfect partner to spicy foods, especially Asian cuisine. Or try with fish or seafood cooked with strong or spicy ingredients

This is a no holds barred Alsacian white wine. Rich, intense, spicy, smoky and will reward careful cellaring for up to 10 years.
