Guzzled by millions around the world and NZ’s #1 wine export, Marlborough Sauvy is the tipple that’s put NZ well and truly on the world wine map. Brancott Estate (you might remember them as Montana wines back in the 80s or 90s) happily brag that they were the first ones to plant Sauvignon Blanc vines in Marlborough back in 1975. So, they say, they know a trick or two about how to make it.
Brancott Estate Flight is Brancott’s take on the lighter alcohol wines that are taking a huge surge globally. Don’t think of it as some kind of “Diet Sauvy”, it’s picked and harvested earlier than their standard Sauvignon so it’s naturally lower in alcohol (just 9%) but still has the crisp, refreshing hit that we know and love about this variety.
Lighter in the booze it’s naturally a good option as a lunchtime wine, try it with barbecued shrimps, prawns or a chicken salad.
