- Gold medal winner (NZ Int'l Wine Show
- 5 Stars & 95/100 Bob Campbell
- From Bannockburn, the world famous sub-region of Otago
Akarua, run by the Skeggs family, are the largest privately owned single estate vineyard in Central Otago. They were also one of the first with Sir Clifford Skeggs first planting vines here in 1996. The first vintage was in 1999 and by 2002 they claimed a big kahuna of an accolade - The Champion Wine of Show at the Air NZ Wine Awards!
Wind the clock forward some 8 or 9 years, pop a few more Gold medals and Trophies in the awards cabinet, and it's no wonder these guys are one of the best in the business down there.
And how about this 2010? Well, along with a Gold medal in NZ's biggest wine show, Bob Campbell gave this vintage 5 Stars and 95/100 - "A classy pinot noir that's easy to appreciate."
Produced in Bannockburn, the sub-region described as the "jewel in the crown of Otago". This will cellar well for the next 3-5 years, although we promise you'll be tempted to crack one open before then. That's why one bottle just won't be enough! Get cracking.
